He was the head coach for Florida in the 2009 Florida-Georgia Border Wars and coached All-Stars from around the state in the 2010 FACA All-Star Game. His 2015 and 2023 teams were invited to play in KSA events in Orlando, earning wins over teams from Pennsylvania and California. His 2015 team was also invited to compete in the Under Armour National Select 7-on-7 Tournament. That same year, the War Eagles played live on the ESPN Network at Wakulla High School against Spartanburg out of South Carolina.
Beyond team success, Coach Klees has made a significant impact on the broader coaching community. He has spoken at several major coaching events, including the FACA Football Clinic, Nike Coach of the Year Clinic, FCA Clinic, and the FCA Gala. While at Wakulla High School, he has been dedicated to youth development—hosting clinics for Big Bend Pop Warner Football and the Wakulla County Youth Football Association and running a 7-on-7 tournament for surrounding Big Bend teams for over a decade. His leadership has also extended to the state level, serving on both the FHSAA Advisory Committee for Football and the FHSAA Advisory Committee for Weightlifting.
Coach Klees began his coaching career at Robert F. Munroe. While at Munroe he took three different sports—football, basketball, and softball—to the playoffs. He made history by leading the softball team to the first district championship in school history, and his work in football earned him recognition as the 2001 Gadsden County Football Coach of the Year.
The 2026 Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) Hall of Fame Induction ceremony will take place on January 10, 2026, in Orlando, Florida.
Congratulations Coach Klees on a well-earned induction into the 2026 FACA Hall of Fame—a testament to three decades of dedication, achievement, and servant leadership.
